What information is collected

The Puffin Magic Foundation is very thankful to all our event paticipants, supporters, sponsors and donors, so care is taken to protect the details collected in all cases.

Personal information such as firstname, surname, address, phone number, email address is collected either during our pledge and donation process, for the subscription to our mailing list database or through our contact us page.

All information is collected on a voluntary basis either by supplying information or anonymous donation.

How personal information is used

Personal information is used primarily in processing pledges and donations made to the foundation. When a pledge is made, the donated funds are matched to the pledge and a receipting function, where required, is used via our database.

The option to show your donation on the donors list is given during the pledge process and will be displayed upon receipt of donation if that option is chosen. We respect anonymity and can accept donations anonymously, however, provisions contained in taxation legislation require us to collect the name of the donor if the donor requires a tax deductible receipt.

You have the option to receive our newsletters by either opting in via the newsletter subscription on the website or during the pledge process.

Mailouts and Newsletters

If you opt to join our mailing list, using your name and email address, you are giving permission to receive our newsletter and special information that is emailed out from time to time.

Your email and personal information will not be shared with any third party at any time and in accordance with the International Spam Act we do not solicit spam in any way. You are able to opt out at any time from our mailing list.

Website information

When you visit the Puffin Magic Foundation website, or download information from it, the following information is recorded: your internet address, your domain name if applicable, the date and time of your visit, the pages you accessed and documents downloaded, the previous website you have visited and the type of browser you are using. This information is used for statistical and website development purposes only.

Security

Our site and your donation information is protected by Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Technology at all times. This is a secure layer of data encryption that protects information passed via the internet. You will notice the https address on all pages that contain additional and necessary security.

When a credit card payment for a donation is processed via our internet payment gateway the credit card information is not stored on our local databases in any way. All information is passed securely to the bank site and processed on their hosted environment.
